Professional Life....

To,
A machine which was newly bought by a company
From,
A 3 months old machine.

My friend,
Welcome to the "professional life". But the word "professional life" gives you some hope. That won't be fair. So let me reframe it.

Welcome to the profession, my dear. There is no life here.

First few days will be very exciting when you see all those new people and the lucrative oiling that you get after the days work. Don't get so excited, all those new faces are those who are going to run various commands on you. Commands, some which were never told to you, and some you don't understand and some that you would never want to do. They call it honeymoon period here. if this is what they call honeymoon, man, i'm even scared to marry now and i feel sorry for all those married.

Earlier you had some thing to look forward to, everyday.
like, I'll defeat gogoi in Counter Strike today, or i'll tell her what i feel about her today, or i'll sleep atleast 10 hrs today, or i'll atleat attend three classes today, or... or .... or.... or .... or.....

Welcome, dear, welcome, where you look forward to the exact samething everyday
Its like you loosing to gogoi in CS everyday.or you telling her what you feel and she slapping you everyday, or sleeping 3 hrs everyday or attending all the classes everyday. (infact the last two of the wish list is one and the same. if u attend all the classes you sleep atleast 3 hrs during those classes and not sleep the entire night.

rather I should have said, where you look forward to nothing everyday.
You'll soon enter into a very mechanical life where every day is like every other day
Things you know, you are going to do, and those which, you are not going to. Welcome to a life minus uncertainty and fun. Where you are a machine which works according to the demand, the company oils you and u get rest when they grant it.

Every monday you curse the day for those weekly reports, tuesdays for being a tuesday, wednesdays for not being a friday, thursdays for nothing happened in last four days, and fridays for .....well, no one curses a friday.

You meet the same people everyday, do the same work and the chance of meeting someone new or doing something different is as high as my manager telling me "good work, Kannan"

Life will be like a script. where for a provided set of input you'll alwsys get the same output. No uncertainties no randomness, a well defined algorithm, a matured tool.

Well, last saturday, I tried to add some uncertainty to my life, by telling the ice cream vendor to pick an icecream for me. He picked a cornetto crunchy and i was ha ha ha, i dint expect that.. Finally some uncertainty.

I spend my weekdays hoping for the weekends to come and my weekends scared of the weekdays that are imminent. and I find both flying past me without giving even a single event worth narrating.

Dear friend, Welcome to the profession. there is no Life here.

Well few ppl get to realize the monotonic life of corporate world so early in their career...U r definitely one of them who does not like the state of affairs at their workplace...It is good that u realize it so early but it is up to you whether u want to accept it or u want to be a maverick and change it....Depends on u dude...No point complaining..Most of the ppl feel the same way after a certain time.....Be it any profession..
It is best to keep changing, keep evolving and initiate the random behavior urself than expect sumone to initiate it.

comrade.....i wish many people here don't relate to what u r saying......but if they do(like i did),its better to forget it.You don't want to wake up the next 35 years thinking,i know what to do...and i wish that i din't know.
waise bhi hum ek hi thali ke chatte batte hain.....uncertainity is inevitable....just look out for that.(even my comment may not be what u expected.Thats uncertainity :))

@vivek

may be u r true, we have been tied to this monotonicity from the day we were born. But just remember your child hood days where you just wanted to play. you finish ur studies n wait for that one call from ur friend. n then u rush to ur friends to play.

look at ur school days where everyday u were exploring something or the other about urself.... :) and trying more infact, to xplore the world.

look at ur college days.

n soon you will be looking at the professional world.

Its is not the fault of any company or anything, its just gotta be like that.
or may be i had such a happening life till now, that i'm finding it so now.

hii... dear.....why do you think that your life is monotonous. Try to extarct fun from every action of yours. This would probably increase your interest.
good luck.......go high...

Song : Welcome to the machine
Album : Wish You Were Here
Artist : Pink Floyd
check out the track. you'll get the message i have in answer to the post. one thing though my friend.i cant review what u write on ur blog.no one can. thats the idea of a blog. people can go do callisthenics if they have a problem (callisthenics describing a rather impolite phrase we have gottten used to using).
all i can say is i enjoy reading what you choose to share.
so you better keep at it.as for Silver, he's only human. ;-)

To some extent i do agree that life does become monotonous but i dont think one should sound this low- i guess its just that we all will take some time overcome the college wala attitude in us where there was no compulsion 2 attend class and no responsibilities. I think more than work bugging ou its all about missing old friends. I am not being philosophical but if the college phase would have continued forever wudn't that too have also been MONOTONOUS???? N moreover you would have also not been writing so beautifully about those days(as u r now) had it not ended:).

@ vani,
xactly, its not at all because job or the work enironment is not good. infact im enjoying here.we watch match (even shown with a projector), play pool, TT and the cafetaria guy almost everytime opens a new biscuit packet , after i pay a visit. It is fun with new friends here too.

But man, the moment i think about my college life, the fun we had there, i get into a very desp mood. This blog was also written when i was in such a mood. One of my close friend had called and was making me remember the infinite fun that we had in the college. and i was feeling, what a life i was living here. For some time i forgot all the good things that were happening to me. like a dementor sucking away all the happiness from your soul that one call from my friend sucked away all the happiness from my life, may be for a moment or so.

Pratyush, are you a dementor or something ?
